Dear DT users, hackers,

I start to be tired of the LT thumbnail generation time on my computer.

Here is my HW setup:

- images files on a standard SATA drive
- OS, .config, .cache on an SSD drive
- Memory: 8Go
- CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 coeurs)
- Graphic card: embedded ATI RS780L [Radeon HD 3000]

My DT conf. (performance related options):

- don't use embedded preview jpeg but half-size raw: checked
- compression of thumbnail images: off
- memory in bytes to use for mipmap cache: 954
- number of background threads: 2
- host memory limit (in MB) for tiling: 5000
- minimum amount of memory (in MB) for a single buffer in tiling: 256
- activate opencl support: unckecked
- always use littlecms2 during export: unchecked
- do high quality resampling during export: yes
- demosaicing for zoomed out darkroom mode: at most ppg
- pixel interpolator: lanczos3

when I work on tagging for example on hundreds of pictures (I have
historical pictures to tag ...), that's very uncomfortable due to
thumbnail generation slowness. Pictures are already developed, so the
thumbnails are generated from the raw file.

Does anyone know on which area I should work to enhance performances?
Does a graphic card with OpenCL support really helps in this area (which
cards are recommended)? Is there another HW enhancement I can do. Is
there any DT configuration I can better tune?

thanks for any help :)
