the `standard color matrix' is adobe's matrix as it comes with their
dngconverter i think, and as you find it in dcraw.
the `enhanced color matrix' is what pascal measured with a color chart. it
tends to saturate colors a little more.
starting with a linear (disabled) base curve and the standard color matrix
should give you a picture that's so neutral that it looks flat and dull and
boring :)
to desaturate skin tones a little, there is also pascal's `neutral skin
tones' preset in the color zones module.
