I am aware of this, but the *size* of the slider still requires great
attention to locate the mouse pointer, and rolling the mouse wheel is much
quicker than the suggested action.

I work large groups of photos, frequently > 1000, making "ease of useage"
very important, ie: cropping, correcting light from differing sun angles,
culling fuzzy focus, ...
