Looking at the new Intel Haswell processors, it seems that it's new AVX2
extension can be particularly helpful for graphics processing. For example:

One option is to run gentoo and compile everything with the extensions
enabled.
Aside from that, is anyone compiling your own darktable on a debian or
rpm-based distribution to take advantage of extensions like these? Please
share details. Which of the libraries that darktable depends on would be
most advantageous to also compile with extensions?
I run Ubuntu and have gone so far as to compile darktable from git for
debugging purposes, but I haven't also compiled any of its dependencies.
Thanks,
Michael
