After I added the D610 info to the lensfun file in /usr/share/lensfun I checked into how the lensidnumber is used. The new system uses a lens id number as opposed to a description. So I duplicated the 24-85 lens data in the lensfun xml file and changed the description to 180. Darktable seems to work ok now. Hopefully this is the correct approach.
