After further investigation, the issue/feature-request is solved but not in the expected manner. The crop selection will become visible and active on the current image by assigning a key to: Image Operations -> Crop and Rotate -> Angle -> Edit This "feature" allows me to stay focused on the image and not searching for the "Crop and Rotate" module, mouse clicking in that module and then returning to the image.
