Hello,

http://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch02s02s03.html.php reads:

 > To toggle the color labels of multiple images you select the desired
images (see Section 2.3.5, “Select”) and then press the corresponding
color button in the bottom panel.

On darktable 1.4.1, when doing exactly this on a fresh collection, it
does what is expected (apply the color label to all selected pictures).
Same when images all already had the label, it gets cleared for all.

But if some but not all of the images happened to have the label
already, it appears that the programm actually toggles the label
individually, does not ensure that none or all the images have it.

I expected that if some of the images happened to have the label
already, the operation applies the label to all.

Rationale: when selecting a bunch of pictures and applying a label, the
natural meaning is "they have something in common", so applying a color
label should reflect that : ensure they will have the common property to
have the label (or not, but the same for the whole selection). Can
anyone name a situation where the right thing to do would be the current
"individual toggle not group toggle" behavior ?

 > In order to remove all labels from the selected images press the grey
button.

Indeed, if it's the only label in use for these images, I can press the
grey button then the color label I want.
All selected pictures then get the label I want. But they have lost all
the other labels, so it's only satisfying in the specific case they had
no other label.

Can you enlighten me ?

Thank you for your attention.
