Thanks for response. BTW, if it is "only" a GTK issue, someone with
10-bit hw could try the patch attached to this bug report:

Sure. I am considering the options for hw upgrade, not yet fully decided
for the clumsy 10-bit way. Anyway, these monitors are more and more
affordable and sooner or later this becomes an issue for more users.
