Yep, it's right, the dog is nearly black. As these images were primarily taken for testing AF modes, the lens focus speed and things, I didn't bother taking a gray card with me for correct WB. > As an interesting exercise, try selecting the whole image for spot white > balance. Yes, that's clear to me, especially in a scene with mostly black and green -> too much green leads to this purple tint as it's the opposite color. > The reason that geeqie (and possibly dppviewer and digikam) look better is > that they're most likely showing you the > embedded JPG preview, which has gone through all the proprietary in-camera > processing and LUTs and stuff which I'd say > is compensating slightly for this effect. I chose these two programs as they definitely use the raw data. dppviewer is canons own raw converter, and therefore it wouldn't make any sense to use the internal jpeg as conversion preview. But as it uses probably the same algorithms as the camera, this would explain the better results. And, if geeqie would use the internal preview 1:1 zoom levels wouldn't be possible I guess. So it must be better at interpreting the WB in some way. Or are the .CR2 included previews the full image size?
