The documentation may make more sense than the wiki.

I see that the manual source is in git, so I can contribute through this 
channel.
According to http://www.darktable.org/development/ I should contribute 
to master branch and a pull request on github is fine.

Now, where to put the explanation ?

stack" ?

There are other options: add a subsection in one of those, add a new 
section "module apply order" or similar, make a link to it in other places.

Any hint appreciated.
