Hi! Clouds tend to be in the upper part of an image and there is usually a pretty obvious intensity distribution from "really high" in the clouds to "rather low" at the bottom. So I usually just apply a vertical linear intensity gradient to get the heaven down to levels where you can discriminate the clouds. The module is called "graduated density" and I find it really easy, self-explaining and effective.
