Hi darktable users. After following the very instructive discussion about your Hugin workflow... maybe someone can explain his/her workflow for white balance (WB) in darktable (DT), or how to remove color cast of a second light source?
My WB workflow: 1. most of the time, the auto WB of the camera is fine 2. if I don't like auto WB, I use the "manual" setting in DT and point it to something white/grey. For a warmer (more friendly) look, I increase the WB temp a bit (maybe by 100K). For some of my LED light bulbs, I also pull down the "green" slider in DT a bit (from 1 to 0.95 for example) because even after this manual WB the skin tone looks a bit greenish Number 2. works most of the time, BUT... sometimes with mixed light conditions, for example when taking pictures at lunch time in a restaurant. Here, one has (low WB temperature) light bulb over the table and (high WB temperature) sun light through the windows. See, for example [1] and [2]. In [1] I put the manual WB on the white napkin under the brown cookie (I used to be done with WB at this point), but there is this blue light on the table and this blueish color cast on the cookie (Think of the cookie as a face to portrait). If I let the (blue) day light from the window look nice (manual WB on the table - see [2]) everything else is so yellow :-( What do you do in such cases? What is the best tool in DT to get rid of the harsh blue? Maybe a link to a blog or video HWOTO? I found 1000 youtube videos that want to explain to me, how to take a picture of something grey for WB, but found nothing useful about this mixed light problem - maybe you can give me good google key words?
