Thank you for the reply. I applied your updated database files and it initially had no effect, so I used Apt to remove and then reinstall the Darktable package. This seems to have fixed it as I can now manually select "A5100" as the camera type and "Sony, E 50mm f1.8 OSS" as the lens type. Two things still bother me though: the "Image Information" box still thinks I'm using a T mount lens and once I've selected a lens model I can no longer change it unless I first change the camera model and then change it back.
Other than that it seems to work OK.
