Thanks, I have noticed the Friendcaster Android app also seem to be having
trouble due to API changes.
I have looked for a development branch and, while there are many branches,
I cannot find one by that name. When I searched -

- it found revision ff2d380f which implements an HTTP server in darktable
to handle the authentication but, as far as I can see, that change of
approach is already present in darktable 1.6.6 necessitated by a previous
API change.
I did try building the latest 'master' branch but that fails with a
compilation error:
darktable/src/common/interpolation.c: In function
‘dt_interpolation_compute_sample’:
darktable/src/common/interpolation.c:789:21: error: array subscript is
above array bounds [-Werror=array-bounds]
h += kernelh[j] * ipixel[0];
