That's the behaviour I'd expect if the raw format is not recognised (dt can do 
previews because 
those are initially based on the JPG preview that's embedded in the raw files). 
 Indeed, I don't see 
any references in the source code (even of the development version) so I'd say 
it has simply not 
been added yet.  If you can provide samples, I'm sure that situation could be 
fixed, though.

This normally boils down to one sample raw for basic support, plus a raw/jpg 
pair for each white 
balance preset, but can involve more files to support other more interesting 
hardware features if 
they're present.
