Hi Mariana,
what's the exact problem?
From what I understand you have imported the photos to darktable
already to find out afterwards that the filenames are wrong?
In that stage xmp files are created already, so you have pairs of raw
files and xmp files.
Those need to have the same base name.
The only way I would see is do remove those photos from the collection
and use a tool like pyRenamer to batch-rename those pairs of files.
After that you can reimport the folder and you hopefully have all your
images back with all edits - but with the new file name.
Hope that helps.

Me too! I have a dumb question:
few questions are "dumb" but express a need for knowledge :)
I understand Darktable is not a file manager, but I realized I have
imported and worked on a shooting without changing the job name: so my raws
and dartktable files are named "no name".... I can rename easily my photos
with Dolphin, but what about the *.xmp files?
But darktable is complete and can manage your photo files and will move
the xmp files with the raws. Renaming may be another matter. I do not
use darktable to "import" rather a bash script which renames based on exif
time stamp and original photo filename.
But I use darktable to develop, rate, tag and move my photos.
gud luk,
