Did you try clarity preset in the equalizer tool?

Hi,
DT 1.67 on xUbuntu.
I'm trying to get equivalent of the Clarity in Lightroom, which
applies contrast to the medium and also does some sharpening.
I tried the local contrast.
2 images:
* First image. it works, kind of. Definitely not as strong as LR or I
must be doing something wrong: coarseness: 50, contrast: 50 , detail
0.4, blend uniformly, normal
* Second image: it doesn't work. It shows: "Local contrast (null)",
but the settings are: coarseness: 50, contrast: 30 , detail 0.2,
blend uniformly, normal
1. What I have done wrong to get: "Local contrast (null)" on the
second image?
2. What settings are a good starting point?
