If you want gcc-3 on MacOSX 10.1, you need the April2002 dev tools.
The Dec2001 dev tools only contain gcc-2 (under the name cc as Samuel explains). With the April tools, you get the gcc_select utility to switch between gcc-2 and gcc-3.
