What was the dead pastie link? Pastie links should pretty much stick around forever unless there is some privacy issue or they are pasted privately. Private pasties are expired (under certain circumstances) where as public ones are not.
If you guys wish to post items for links in mailing lists and such please make sure you pastie publically.
