Hi Everyone,

I'd like to take this time to officially welcome Martin Gamsjaeger to
the DataMapper core team.

For those of you who have been involved in the DataMapper community
this will come as to no surprise. Martin (snusnu as he's known online)
has been tirelessly working on DataMapper, and specifically
integrating DM with Rails 3 and helping get things ready for the 1.0
release next month at RailsConf. He has also been a great help in the
#datamapper IRC channel on freenode.net, helping people work through
problems and making sure DM integrates well with other frameworks.

In the past we've never had an official core team, DM has been mostly
just run by one maintainer with several people helping out on specific
areas. We're at the point now where the community is too large to have
just a single person responsible for everything. Currently the DM core
team will consist of Martin and myself, and the team may grow over
time; but I do not expect more than 4-5 people overall since it can be
hard to maintain focus when there are too many competing interests.

>From the point of view of the community you'll likely see bug fixes
speeding up a bit, and more of a focus on making sure integration with
frameworks is smoother. Both Martin and I will be maintaining the ~40
gems under the "datamapper" github account, but I still plan to focus
the majority of my time on the "core" and the overall architecture,
while Martin will be focusing on framework integration. In the near
term Rails 3 and the dm-rails project will be Martin's focus, and the
plan is to extract it's functionality into a dm-config base gem that
all frameworks can use to integrate cleanly with DM.

Here are some links to Martin's github and twitter account if you're
interested in following him online:
