Hello All,

Hope you're all doing well! We are working with the GitHub Social Impact
and Policy team
<https://socialimpact.github.com/insights/standardized-github-metrics-project-launch/>
to define standardized metrics for international development, public policy
and economics research indexes.

The home for more than 65 million developers in six continents, GitHub is
the world’s largest code hosting platform. As such, metrics on GitHub
platform usage can play a valuable role in research across many
disciplines, including international development, public policy and
economics. In the past, GitHub data has been used to study information
geographies
<https://rgs-ibg.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/geo2.8>, *tech
maturity <https://networkreadinessindex.org/2020/>* and online collaboration
<https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0040162520311173>.
Given its relevance and potential, GitHub would like to develop metrics
from platform usage that can support researchers and practitioners in
international development.

In case you have worked with GitHub data in the past, or would like to use
it in your work, we would love to connect and learn your needs. Please fill
out this form

so that we may be able to reach out to you.

Thank you!

Best,

Tarunima
