Thanks for the comments Dilawar! To answer your questions: Awesome stuff! Can it be extended to all Panchayats in the country easily?
I guess so, just have a feeling that services like Planetary Computer might not be able to handle all the data and could crash if you don't code it in a certain way. Planetary Computer allows you to create something called dask clusters to 'perform computation in parallel and at scale'. I'm an amateur coder, so I don't how to do all that magic, think you need to do all that for operations to complete without crashing. Just a nitpick: why not use "median" as an averaging strategy? No strong reason really, i'm just thinking that since this is a story about how hot villages get, about temperature extremes, you need a measure of central tendency like average that takes in ALL values, instead of a measure like median that ignores extreme values. -shijith On Friday, 24 February 2023 at 13:30:26 UTC+5:30 Dilawar Singh wrote: Awesome stuff! The story is at https://shijith.com/blog/kerala-panchayat-temp/ And the code is at https://github.com/shijithpk/hottest-panchayats-kerala Was thinking of using Google Earth Engine for this story, but decided to go with Planetary Computer since it's Python-centric and I'm more familiar with that language. Pretty sure earth/environment science guys won't be happy with my methodology, but hopefully there's enough of a logic to it to accept the story as a basic analysis.
