In today's Steering Committe call we took a big step by ratifying the
Governance Model that many people have been working on over the last
few months to ensure that it matches the need of the Data Portability
Project and adheres to some of our core founding principles to:
-- be open to anyone who wants to participate in the project
-- to reach resolution by consensus
-- to have transparency in decisions

This Governance model details the structure of the organization, and
the methods by which it reaches official decisions and carries out
regular business.

Although many hours of review and discussion went into the final model
and many people contributed to the document and worked together to
resolve differences and clarify items, I want to in particular thanks
Steve Greenberg who has lead the Governance Task force over the last
few months.

The Governance Model can be reviewed here:

Additional Motions that have been passed by the Steering Committee can

We look forward to seeing you participate in moving the DataPortablity
Project forward. If you are not sure how you can contribute please
contact me directly.
