Unix time doesn't count leap seconds. 2008-12-25 is 14238 days after the Unix epoch (1970-01-01), so the Unix time at 00:00:00 UT on that day is 86400*14238, and the Unix time at 23:59:59 UT on that day is 86400*14239-1. -zefram
