Well, if you benchmark just DateTime, removing PV will definitely make it faster.

As you point out, this may not matter all that much in a given app, unless your app mostly consists of calls to DateTime methods that use PV.

But FWIW, I've been considering a DateTime v2 project using Moose, so I'm not really leaning towards _less_ validation ;)
