Are the tools that generate this available somewhere. I'm aware of T:OTZ:Download, but it doesn't seem to do everything. I should explain that I'm the current maintainer of DT:TZ in Fedora and looking at how best we can prepare for the move to T:OTZ:D. Presumably the other linux distributions are going to face the same problems we are - we can't simply repackage T:OTZ:D from CPAN as it contains precompiled tz files. And it doesn't make sense for use to rebuild the whole thing from source as we already have a tzdata package that contains exactly the same data and is updated regularly. I think our best option is going to be to extend our existing tzdata package so that it also generates a suitable Data.pm which simply refers to the system-wide zoneinfo directory. And rather than reinvent the wheel, it would be nice to reuse whatever you use to do this. -- Iain.
