Have you looked at the examples? They (well, the video ones) use V4L2...
I suspect the V4L1 compatibility layer might be having issues with the
davinci_vpfe driver. I was trying to get gstreamer's v4lsrc plugin
working (which uses V4L1 ioctls), and also getting "Invalid argument".
I'll look more into it tomorrow, but I think that perhaps the
compatibility layer isn't being called at all.
