Cheers, Niko -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Maitriya, Thiyana (IE10) Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2008 5:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: DM355 Help needed Hi I am a newbie to the DM355 and DAVINCI technology. I am working on DM642 and want to migrate to DM355. I have some following questions. 1). Is all the programming done through ARM? Niko: Yes, since DM355 is ARM only device. 2). Does DM355 support third party MPEG-4 Lib (like ATEME's MPEG-4 Lib)and program it using the DSP BIOS. Niko: Codec support is provided by 3rd party, and again, no DSP. 3). Does DM355 have a DSP CPU ( like DM644X processor), or just the MPEG4/MJPEG coprocessor units. What if I need to implement the Video analytics(like motion detection etc..), how do I go about this is DM355. Niko: It has just the co-processor. A list of pre-processing/analytics features offerd by the DM355 VPFE can be found here: http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/spruf71/spruf71.pdf. 4). IN the DM355 technical reference manual for the EVMDM355 gives that the audio codec AIC33 uses the McBSP1. But in the Data sheet of the TMS320DM355, I don't see and thing mentioned about the McBSP( or is it the SPI interface). I am confused on this.. Niko: The EVM provides expansion connectors that can be used to accept plug-in daughter cards. The daughter card allows users to build on their EVM platform to extend its capabilities and provide customer and application specific I/O. The expansion connectors are interfaces which include McBSP, and serial I/O expansion. How McBSP is connected to the DM355 processor is shown in the schematics in the EVMDM355 technical reference manual found on the Spectrum Digital homepage. 5). There are two JTAGS (one for DSP and One for ARM), how is the data communication between the DSP and ARM? Niko: no DSP on DM355. Please help me on this so I can go ahead Regards Thiyana _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source
