Staring version 7 UDB, Datajoiner is integrated into UDB (Federated). This with db2
relational connect will give READ access to heterogeneous databases and other DB2
flavors. Non non DB2 databases,
you have to install DB2 Relational Connect. DB2 relational connect doesn't come with
UDB and has to be ordered separately. Unlike datajoiner, federated can be used by the
same instance. Write access
functionality is planned in the next release (v8, I guess). So based on the type of
access you need (read/write) you can use FEDERATED or DATAJOINER.
Datajoiner Federated
========== =========
1. Read/Write Read only
access to
target DB
2. Requires different Can be used by the same instance
instance
3. Non DB2 libraries Requires DB2 RELATIONAL CONNECT for non DB2 DB
builtin

Subject: Re: DB2EUG: Accessing databases
You can't access them just using UDB. You need an additional Software called as DB2
Data Joiner which can connect to heterogeneous database like Informix, Sybase etc..
Refer to the following IBM Website to get more details about this product.
