HI Pierre,
thanks for the reply.

I resolved the first issue! The db2dart give me a hint that there was a
tbspace corrupted, so I tried a restart db drop pending(that tbspace).
This time either the command didn't succeded but having formerly set
properly the permissions of the db2diag.log file I got the log for the
action and I discovered that there were other 2 damaged tbspaces and two
other offline.
Finalyy specifying all the 3 demage tbspace in the db2 restart drop pending
TABLESPACE() I recovered the connectivity to the db... isolating the
losses!!!
Only one thought still trouble me on that problem... the troubleshooting
guide says that from v6 on a damaged regular tbspave shouldn't stop
connecting to the db but "automagically" put those tbspaces offline... can
anyone help me understanding why it's not the situation??

For the second problem in the /etc/services there should be the right
servicename if no-one changed the db2set parameters... however thanks for
the hint next time I'll get to that shop I'll make some checks!!!

Thanks again
Fabrizio

Fabrizio, I don't know about Probl.#1 and I'm looking in what I know to
come
back to you.
Probl. #2 seems to be linked with communications. I rn into something
like this
on V7.1 FP3 last week.
I tlooks like the instance is not finding it's tcpip port number to
listen on.
The way I solved it after looking in db2diag.log (which I know you
can't), is to
set the service name and make the corresponding entry in the services
file. I
hadn't and I thought it would default to port 50004 (it was the 3rd
instance)
but it did not. I set it and it worked fine.
HTH, Pierre.
