See DB2 Magazine article "Cut Query Times in Half" Q4, 2001, Figure 2, DMS
vs SMS, for a performance benchmark that was completed on DB2 V7.1 AIX:
http://www.db2mag.com/db_area/archives/2001/q4/hayes.shtml#fig2

This particular machine and performance test showed measurable CPU and SORT
time savings by using DMS, which is important if your machine is CPU bound,
as most DB2 UDB applications tend to be. During one recent analysis of a
Siebel DB2 AIX implementation, we found that over 20% of all CPU time was
consumed by one SQL statement. Anyway, hopefully you will find the entire
article helpful. Links to additional DB2 UDB performance articles can be

Arnoud;
Here is my original question. I copied the list in case it was a temporary
problem preventing me from posting yesterday.

Many thanks to you for running this list for us. We all really appreciate
what you have done for us.
