[From: Ellen Reys]
I have been working with EE for about a year or so and with EEE for several
months.
We have a large EEE instance on S85 running AIX 4.3.3, and we are observing
paging space going up to 92% usage, which obviously affects system's
performance. I had a case opened with IBM, and their recommendation was to
add the following registry parameters:
[i] DB2MEMMAXFREE=8000000
[i] DB2MEMDISCLAIM=YES
We set them, and our sysadmin adjusted maxperm and minperm on AIX level: we
continue having problems. I am including an AIX White Paper that talks about
the paging space.
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/aix/products/aixos/whitepapers/pagingspace.html
The recommendation that I have heard was to have a paging space on AIX
configured ~40% of your physical memory on the box. It seems high to me
since lots of paging results in performance degradation.
Thanks.
