Amit, I have restored a backup from 5.2 into 7.1 on NT several times so 5.0 to 7.2 should be fine. I know IBM supports restoring backups made from two versions back of the new db.
As for the alias and timestamp, make sure the timestamp you are entering agrees with the date/time portion of the backup file that was made. I've always used that instead of using list history. I'm not sure about the alias message. I would guess that it is looking for whatever folder name is the top level in the folder you made/have the backup in. For example, if I backup my db into C:\backups it creates c:\backups\dbname\... So, I'm guessing it is looking for you to put what dbname is in for the alias. Just guessing on my answers to #2 but they seem valid to me (until proven not to work). Hope this helps Jason >>> "Sinha, Amit" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 02/05/02 09:19AM >>> Hello List, 1. I was encountering problems in restoring from UDB 5.0 to 7.2 on NT was wondering if that's possible at all ? 2. While restoring it complaints about the source db alias name and timestamp, got the alias name from the source and the timestamp using list history backup command. Was wondering if the restore does not work, Any other suggestion how to move the database from Ver 5 to 7. Thanks.
