Hi Steve,
DB2 v7.1.0.40 is the base 7.2 code. V7.1 with fixpak3 applied
actually brings you to DB2 v7.1.0.41. I applied fixpak3 to my base 7.2
before going to any other fixpak level.

Greg,
db2level reports the following:
DB21085I Instance "DB2" uses DB2 code release "SQL07020" with level
identifier
"03010105" and informational tokens "DB2 v7.1.0.40", "n010415" and
"WR21254".
(Which leaves me with the same problem. How can I tell what fixpack that
is?)
I think the SQL07020 means that it is version 7.2, which is the same as 7.1
with Fixpack 3. Correct? That's what I thought I had.
If that's the case, and I am at Fixpack 3, then my original question still
stands. Why is Fixpack 6 objecting
when I try to install it, and telling me that I have to first upgrade my
existing product (see original posting below)?
Thanks.

Go to a DB2 Command Window and type the command DB2LEVEL. This will tell
you what you need to know.

Christi,
I thought I had FP3 on my client. Perhaps I am mistaken.
Control Center's "Help --> Product Information" menu reports that it is
Version 7, plus it has the following:
5648-B91, 5648-B95, 5648-B96, 5648-B97, 5648-B98, 5648-B99, 5648-C34.
How can I tell what fixpack that is?
Thanks.

FP6 requires FP3 to be installed first at client also.

Subject: [DB2EUG] Problem installing 7.2 FP6 admin client
I currently have the Control Center (7.1, FP3 = 7.2) running on a Windows
2000 Professional system.
I downloaded the latest administration client, FP6, from the IBM web site,
but when I try to install it I get the following error message:
"Severe: A different DB2 product at an older release level already exists
on this system. You must upgrade the existing DB2 product on the system
before you will be able to complete this install."
The only DB2 products I have installed on my system are the earlier version
of the admin client mentioned above and QMF for Windows 7.1. Why is it
objecting? Do I have to completely uninstall the existing client software
first? The error message refers to "upgrading" the existing product. I
thought that was what I was trying to do!
Thanks for any advice.
