There is no facility in DB2 V 6 to truncate the log file at the end of an
online backup. However with V 7.2 FP 3 and above, each online backup will
automatically truncate the active log file for you.
Please note that V6 is no longer in service, check out

Dear List
Novice to this so here goes ...
Background Info:
Original systems implemented in UDB, with packaged software not compatible
with V7 and beyond.
Newer systems implemented in UDB, with packaged software compatible with
V7.
I have created a "generic" backup mechanism which executes on each of seven
production nodes backing up approximately 20 databases,
which have a very wide range of log consumption, from one log switch per
week, to hundreds of log switches per day.
Platform Info:
AIX 4.3.3 DB2 code release "SQL06010" with level identifier "01030104" and
informational tokens "DB2 v6.1.0.6", "s991030" and "U468276"
My Question:
How can I "force" a log switch on each of UDB V6 and UDB v7 to ensure that
the log which is current when the online backup is taken is also backed up?
I know I can issue a db2 ARCHIVE LOG command in UDB v7, but have any of you
managed the same trick in UDB v6?
Cheers, in anticipation ..
