Hi,

As an Oracle specific workaround for clients (OOo) on XP, instead of using the
Oracle supplied ODBC driver, use the Oracle ODBC driver supplied by Microsoft.
I'm getting much better results with it connecting to Oracle 10g (able to insert
into columns with defaults, with trigger supplied values, etc)

Microsoft call it their ".NET Managed Provider for Oracle", and it can be found
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=40032

That URL looks like it might not last over time, so it's also referenced from
this URL too which may be more useful:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q244661/

Hope this helps.

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift
