OpenOffice itself understands only a subset of SQL. I was going to say to just
turn Design Mode off or choose "Create Query in SQL View..." to enter SQL
directly, but this doesn't work for a spreadsheet, because there's no db
underneath to process the SQL. Workarounds: do the concatenation in the
spreadsheet, or bring the spreadsheet data into a proper db (eg by creating a
new db, copying the data/table from spreadsheet, and pasting into new db to
start Copy Table wizard). Since I believe that the desired functionality does
not exist, rather than being defective, I'm changing the Type from DEFECT to
ENHANCEMENT.
