Howdy.
This regression is due to the current policy to maintain a seperate repository
of icons with Sun, using something called 'IconTool'. Periodically this gets
integrated back into the CVS. For some history look at Issue 58439 and the
umbrella Issue 67758. Since Sun's ArtTeam claims ownership of the Default icon
set (to keep a consistent visual theme), it seems that only Stella (sts) can
apply changes. Directly updating the CVS may cause regressions when IconTool is
next applied to CVS.
To assist this situation I have just raised Issue 70355, which will allow us
(Developers, Hackers and Sun's ArtTeam) to a least track such issues.
My concerns are thus:
1. That the current Sun policy is not well known even within Sun (is this
correct?). This should be documented on the Wiki for external (& internal?)
developers.
2. That the regressions caused by CWS qwizardspp4 were not investigated, as I
suggested in i58439. These should be fixed, as we cannot rely on people just
spotting these problems.
3. In future, Sun's ArtTeam *must* work towards improved communication and raise
an issue for each enhancement / update of an icon (or icon group). Esp. now that
we are trying to maintain three additional icon themes!
Regards,
Andrew
