------- Additional comments from cag2...@openoffice.org Tue Feb 24 22:01:30 +0000 2009 ------- I have been working on this project for several years by putting data into a table and form for article and book tracking. I was working until last night without trouble but this morning I went to open the project and received this message in an error dialog box. "Openoffice.org Base: X The connection to the database "arts and studies" could not be established. Could not find "F:/mydatabase and spreadsheet files \database\cmplete2.mdb." I have not been using this file at all but I did extract some of the data from it several months ago. It had been working fine until last night and the file is an odb file now not a mdb. In fact I had to start from scratch and input over 500 files over again because the Access files did not properly convert to this program. The F drive holds my external disk drive files and I thought it was getting tired but when I tried to open other odt or odb files they came open without trouble. Only this one seems to not be accessible from there or my C:/ root drive either. I have a copy of this file on my on board hard drive and it does the same thing as the one on F:drive. So it is not the hardware that is causing this strange message. I thought perhaps an updated version of the engine was needed but when I installed the latest 3.0 the problem is still there. When I try to open a table forms or queries in this file only they do not open but given this error message and nothing works. I have a lot of time and energy wrapped up in this project and do not want to see it trashed. Is there a limit on the number of files one database can hold and I have exceeded this amount? Or is the problem with a corrupted script somewhere? I am not a programmer and do not do the scripts well at all so please be simple for simple minded people.
