In a productivity environment it is essential to have integrated components to
work with, sharing data and not having to duplicate data not only avoids errors
but increases productivity.

Akonadi (http://pim.kde.org/akonadi/) is a cross desktop storage service for pim
data, mainly used in KDE software but not limited to that.
A connection to that framework will give access to one shared database and will
allow to access many different sources through it's plugin architecture.

What is needed for that, is according to Tobias Koenig (one of the akonadi
developers) an extensible imap library and a dbus connection.

This will be needed by all KDE users as akonadi is the default service for
managing address/calendar/todo informations on KDE and as more and more qt
applications will adopt it.
