PREAMBLE:
This may be the wrong address to send this to, if so I appologize
and hope some kind soul will help direct me to whom/where I can
get some assistance. I don't subscribe to this list, so any responses (hold the flames
please) should please be sent to (or cc'd to) me at:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] And yes, I did read the README files - and I either missed what
I'm looking for, or it isn't there.ENVIRONMENT:
SunOS 5.9 Generic_117171-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880
Oracle 9i (ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0)
DBD-Oracle-1.16
perl: 5.8.2
/usr/local/bin/gcc: 3.8.2
/usr/ccs/bin/ld: Software Generation Utilities - Solaris Link Editors: 5.9-1.385
/usr/local/bin/ld: [GNU] 2.1.5
PROBLEM:
I'm trying to build DBD::Oracle for the above environment and
running into problems at the linking part.(1) gcc was a binary installation from sunfreeware.com, and comes
compiled to assume it will use /usr/ccs/bin/ld and
/usr/ccs/bin/as. However, /usr/ccs/bin/ld does not recognize
the '-E' flag being passed to it during the build:
--------------------[BEGIN_ONE_LINE]
LD_RUN_PATH="/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib32:/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/ rdbms/lib32"
gcc -Wl,-E -G -L/usr/local/lib Oracle.o dbdimp.o oci8.o
-xarch=v9 -L/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib/ -lclntsh `cat
/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib/ldflags` `cat
/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib/sysliblist`
-R/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib -laio -lposix4 -lm -lthread
-o blib/arch/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so
--------------------[END_ONE_LINE]
(2) specifying LD=/usr/local/bin/ld on the command line doesn't
help, because the Makefile assumes that LD is actually 'gcc',
and thus uses the '-Wl,' directive which GNU's ld doesn't
understand. (3) I moved /usr/ccs/bin/ld out of the way, and made
/usr/ccs/bin/ld a symlink to /usr/local/bin/ld. This gets me
a bit further, but not much:
--------------------[BEGIN_WRAPPED_LINES]
/usr/ccs/bin/ld: skipping incompatible
/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib//libclntsh.so when
searching for -lclntsh
/usr/ccs/bin/ld: cannot find -lclntsh
--------------------[END_WRAPPED_LINES]For what it's worth - the checksum of the library:
56881 33873 /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/lib/libclntsh.so.9.0
HELP:
- Why is this version of the library "incompatible"?
- Where do I go from here? I'm "reasonably" technically savvy, but appreciate layman's
terminology, descriptions, etc. as much as possible (I'll take
what I can get though). Thanks much, in advance, for any assistance provided.
