hmm my mailer (crappy Netscape 6) seemed to screw up there - try this:

if (defined $row[$i]) {
   if ($row[$i] ne "") {
     print $row[$i] . "\t";
   } else {
     print "Empty string in row\t";
   }
} else {
     print "NULL value in row\t";
}

// or was it me, P is next to { on the keyboard! //
