Hi,
I'm trying to use DBI 1.14 and DBD-Oracle 1.06 under Solaris 8 and Oracle
8.1.6. When I first installed DBD::Oracle I had the problem where the
message "You must install a Solaris patch to run this version of the Java
runtime" appeared.

I read the very helpful README.java file and tried the LD_PRELOAD solution
(#2), which worked for some cases but broke other stuff. I then tried the
"recompiling Oracle libraries" solution (#1), which seemed to work fine.

My question is: has anyone had experience using this re-compiled version of
Oracle 8.1.6? In particular, does anyone know exactly what gets disabled in
Oracle when I recompile it without the Java libraries? I'm doing this for a
client and I need to figure out if they might have any problems in the
future using this modified Oracle installation.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Matias
