Something I noticed after the previous message got sent, DBI doesn't have a
standard way for handling date, time, or datetime values so it normally
treats them as VARCHARs.  You will need to wrap the placeholders in your
INSERT statement that will be feeding DATE columns with whatever conversion
function applies to your database.
