FYI: probably a bit late and a bit out of date (HP-UX 10.20), but in the DBD::Informix 
notes directory, there is a description of how to get GCC built on an HP box if you 
don't 
have the ANSI C compiler.  I haven't had to investigate for 64-bit support - but GCC 
3.1 
for Sparc has it so there's at least a chance that it does for HP (PA-RISC?) too.
