Jeff, After I downloaded it locally, I was able to install it.
It wasn't a proxy issue. I think the reason it wasn't working directly from the ftp site, is because the browser thinks the "ppd" files are HTML, not binary. When I downloaded the pdd files locally, I had to be careful to download them as a regular files (without the htm extention). Thanks for your help. --- Jeff Urlwin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Try to FTP all the files from those directories > directly to your machine. > This is probably something covered by ActiveState's > FAQ or help, for > configuring PPM to go through Proxies, or something. > But, if you use your > browser and download all the files to your hard > drive, say into c:\tmp, then > you can > > Ppm install c:\tmp\DBI.ppd > > Also, please use the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list > for support. > > > > Jeff > > > -----Original Message----- > > Sent: Friday, January 09, 2004 10:30 AM > > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Subject: FW: Binary build(s) of DBI, DBD::ODBC and > > > DBD::Oracle available for ActivePerl 807 > > > > > > I'm new to Perl, so if contacting you is > inappropiate, > > I apologize in advance. > > > http://www.mail-archive.com/dbi-announce%40perl.org/msg00178.html > > As per your instructions above, I tried to install > DBI.ppd, but I am getting an error. > > ppm> install > ftp://ftp.esoftmatic.com/outgoing/DBI/5.8.2/DBI.ppd > Error: No valid repositories: > > This is my perl installation version: > C:\>perl -version > This is perl, v5.8.2 built for > MSWin32-x86-multi-thread > (with 25 registered patches, see perl -V for more > detail) > > I am running this on Windows 2000 > > Thank you in advance for your help. > > Yaakov Sash __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
