My understanding is that Solid 3.5? for Solaris was compiled on a solaris 7 box and dynamically links these libraries. Sun changed the library names in solaris 8+, so anyone trying to use the Solid client libraries has to do this regardless of DBD::Solid. I guess Makefile.PL could detect and warn about this...
