That's what I'm using at the moment ... DBD::Sybase with FreeTDS.
When I tried to use placeholders, I got a 'not supported' type error, so I did some googling, and found some discussions where the conclusion seemed to be that FreeTDS would need some modifications before placeholders were supported. This wasn't that long ago.
