This may be slightly off-topic, but it involves DBD::Oracle. Is anyone checking the health of an Oracle instance remotely? Perhaps in a way that just gives a return code for Zenoss*, that is.
We're currently trying to implement a health check using <http://www.consol.de/opensource/nagios/check-oracle-health>, but it's been failing and not returning correct information (i.e. --mode=connected-users returns "0", when there's certainly at least one connected user). The script contains lots of good stuff, but may be a bit much for our needs. If you have any suggestions, I'm a willing audience! We're using RHEL4 with Oracle 10. Thanks. - Eric * - I do realize that there is enterprise-level oracle checks for Zenoss, but they are "too costly" to purchase, apparently.
