Updated my home box to 10.8 at last, and installed the latest Developer tools from the App store, which no longer install the various command-line tools in /Developer/usr/bin but straight up in /usr/bin .
My first attempt at re-installing DBI failed because it couldn't find clang. I took the lazy way out and created a Developer directory and symlinked /usr into it.
